About Project Alexandria
Why I built it
I’m a book lover with a soft spot for bookshelves and cover art. As a builder, I’m also fascinated by metrics, and by how much you can learn from tracking a simple daily habit like reading. There are plenty of book trackers out there, and I’ve tried them all: Goodreads, StoryGraph, Bookly, Hardcover, you name it. Each one served its purpose for a while, and each one annoyed me in its own way. So I built my own: a beautiful, simple, useful, personal app that does everything I want, and nothing I don’t.

Colophon
- The mark
- An A for Alexandria, drawn as the Pharos, the lighthouse of the ancient city whose library set out to hold every book. The four stars are the Southern Cross, my favorite constellation. In modern times, it sits too far south to be seen from Alexandria. During the lifespan of the great library, Crux, as it is also known, sat just above the horizon in the Egyptian sky.
