Erase Library
Project Alexandria (by André Meurer) lets you erase your library data without deleting your account. This is useful if you want to start fresh while keeping the same sign-in.
How to erase your library data
In the app (recommended):
- Open Settings
- Tap Erase library
- Confirm the action
Outside the app (if you can’t access the app):
Email [email protected] the email address you use to sign in with the subject: “Erase my Project Alexandria library”. We may reply to confirm ownership before completing the request.
What will be deleted
When you erase your library, we delete:
- Your library (books you added/imported, editions/copy matches)
- Your categories and reading statuses (Want to Read / Reading / Finished)
- Your reading logs (pages/minutes + timestamps)
- Your ratings
- Your notes (if you use notes)
- Any stats derived from the above (since they’re computed from your data)
What will be kept
We keep:
- Your email and sign-in method (OTP / Google OAuth)
- Basic app configuration needed to keep the account active (e.g., internal user ID)
What may be retained (limited)
Some data may persist for a limited time in service providers’ systems:
- Analytics events and crash/error logs may persist for a period because they are stored separately from your library data. Where feasible, we delete or de-identify related records, but aggregated/anonymous metrics may remain.
- Backups: residual copies may remain in encrypted backups for a short period.
Timeline
Library erasure is completed immediately in the app. For email requests, we aim to complete erasure within 30 days of a verified request.
